The role of Göteborg University in the MIROR Project is to contribute with competence in research on both aesthetic learning in early childhood and creative music processes generated by IRMS/children interaction. An other important contribute to the MIROR Project is to experiment the outcome in collaboration with the teachers and students of Gothenburg University School of Music.
Bengt Olsson – Scientific responsible and Principal Investigator
Bengt Olsson holds an MA in music education and history and a Ph. D. in musicology. He is since 1998 chair of research on music education at the Academy of Music and Drama, University of Gothenburg. During the 70s he was working in the compulsory school and after that as university teacher and lecturer. He has been involved in research projects about musical knowledge and aesthetic discourses. His articles about the social psychology and the sociology of music education as well as research on music teaching and learning in Scandinavia appear in international journals and books. Bengt Olsson is member of the editorial board of the International Journal of Community music, the International Advisory Board of British Journal of Music Education and the External Advisory Board of London Review of Education. Former Dean of the Faculty of Fine, Applied and Performing Arts and the Faculty of Teacher Education.

Ingrid Pramling Samuelsson – Member of the Research Group
Ingrid Pramling Samuelsson is professor and Coordinator for early childhood education at the Department of Education, Göteborg University, Sweden. She has a background as a preschool teacher and got the first chair in early childhood education in Sweden in 1996. Her research mainly deals with how children create meaning and make sense of different aspects of the surrounding world, in the context of preschool (day care and kindergarten). Another research interest is teachers’ professional development. Professor Pramling Samuelsson has been consulted by the Ministry of Education, the National Agency for Education, and the Department of Social Welfare and Health concerning questions about children. She is also World president of OMEP (Organisation Mundiale pour l’Éducation Préscolaire). In 2005 she was both appointed Honorary doctor at Åbo Akademi, Finland and honoured with the Swedish Fridtjuv Berg Award. She also holds an UNESCO Chair in Early Childhood Education and Sustainable Development.

Niklas Pramling is associate professor in educational science at the department of education, communication and learning, university of Gothenburg. His research background includes two major research projects funded by the Swedish National Research Committee and his a great number of papers and articles has been published in national and international journals.
He is also member of the The Linnaeus Centre for Research on Learning, Interaction and Mediated Communication in Contemporary Society (LinCS). LinCS is a national centre of excellence for research on education and learning.

Her research interests mainly focus on the small children’s musical learning and her doctoral thesis focuses on children’s discernment of musical time and rythms.
